Recreate Carrie Bradshaw’s Runway Hair: Orlando Pita’s Signature Voluminous Blowout
Remember that scene from Sex and the City where Carrie Bradshaw falls on the runway? Beyond her bejewelled panties—custom-made by Broadway costume designer William Ivey Long—and the blue Dolce & Gabbana trench coat, there was the hairstyle.
That unforgettable voluminous blowout was created by none other than Orlando Pita, one of the most legendary hairstylists in the fashion world. At the time, Sarah Jessica Parker met Orlando backstage at the Versace show during Fashion Week, where he was doing the hair. She asked him if they could create a runway look for the episode — and that’s how the moment was born.
Fast forward to today, and we had the chance to speak with Orlando Pita, who shared exactly how to recreate Carrie’s runway blowout at home.
